A vast assortment of attire, footwear, and numerous other items once owned by Princess Diana is set to embark on a global exhibition tour. Renae Plant, an Australian collector who has invested significant funds in amassing a collection of 3000 items related to Princess Diana, is spearheading this grand tour. The exhibition is scheduled to commence in California in November 2026, with plans to traverse various locations worldwide before potentially concluding in the UK for a permanent display.
Renae expressed her excitement about sharing the Princess Diana Museum with fans worldwide, emphasizing the unique stories behind each piece in the collection. Having personally met Diana twice in the past, Renae recounted the emotional impact of those encounters, particularly highlighting the acquisition of Diana’s renowned ‘caring dress’ at an auction for £260,000.
Renae’s journey into collecting Diana memorabilia began in earnest in 2014 when she acquired a Caroline Charles wool coat worn by Diana while carrying Prince William. Reflecting on her collecting passion, Renae shared how her fascination with Diana’s legacy evolved over the years, culminating in the acquisition of over 100 pieces of Diana’s clothing and nearly 3000 items in total, including sentimental items like baby shoes and wedding slippers.
One of the most poignant pieces in Renae’s collection is a dress by Jacques Azagury intended for Diana in 1997, still adorned with pins from her final fitting, symbolizing the unfinished chapter of Diana’s life. Throughout her collecting journey, Renae has sought and received approval from Prince William and Prince Harry, underscoring the personal connection and reverence she holds for Diana’s memory.
