A mother has come forward with a harrowing account of being initially misdiagnosed as “too young” to have cancer and instead being told she had haemorrhoids before eventually receiving the devastating news of her stage four colon cancer spread. Amber Kissell, 45, faced symptoms like fatigue, bowel problems, weight loss, and blood in her stool following the birth of her second child. Despite seeking medical help, doctors allegedly dismissed her concerns as a fissure or haemorrhoids until she experienced dizziness and opted for a colonoscopy, which unveiled the advanced cancer in her colon, liver, and lymph nodes.
Following a rigorous regimen of 12 chemotherapy sessions, Amber’s tumors vanished, and she has since remained in remission. Recalling her ordeal, Amber, who works as a clinical coordinator, expressed her initial disbelief and fear upon receiving the grim diagnosis. Despite the challenging journey, she persevered through treatment and the subsequent positive outcomes.
Amber’s health struggles began after giving birth to her daughter Isabella in 2015, where she faced post-operative complications and alarming symptoms that were initially misinterpreted by her healthcare providers.
