“Instagram Influencer Dies After ‘Fox Eye’ Procedure”

A prominent figure in the fashion world, a social media influencer, has passed away after experiencing complications from a cosmetic ‘fox eye’ procedure.

Adair Mendes Dutra Junior, known as Junior Dutra on the popular platform Instagram, fell seriously ill following the cosmetic surgery and was rushed to a public hospital where he tragically succumbed to his condition. The 31-year-old had been in the process of taking legal action against his celebrity surgeon Fernando Garbi, claiming that an infection had developed in a wound on his face post-procedure.

Junior underwent the ‘fox eye’ treatment in March and shared images showing his face swollen with bruises around his eyes, temple, nose, and chin. This procedure involves lifting the eye corners to achieve an exotic cat-like appearance and can be done through non-surgical methods like thread lifts and Botox, or more invasively through procedures such as blepharoplasty or canthoplasty for a lasting effect.

On October 3, Junior fell ill, experienced respiratory distress, and tragically passed away shortly after being admitted to a nearby hospital, as confirmed by his close friend Gean Souza to Brazilian magazine Quem.

“We are still awaiting the official medical reports regarding the cause of death,” Souza mentioned. “Junior had been experiencing infections and discomfort since the surgery. The situation worsened last Friday.” At the time, Junior was under the care of a dermatologist.

Following the procedure, Junior reached out to the São Paulo police, urging an investigation into Garbi’s practices. He also filed a lawsuit against the surgeon, alleging malpractice, fraud, and severe bodily harm.

Garbi’s legal representative dismissed the accusations, asserting that the surgeon was not responsible for Junior’s demise and warned of legal repercussions against those making false claims for fleeting fame.

The statement, posted on Garbi’s Instagram account, declared, “All necessary legal actions, both civil and criminal, will be pursued against those slandering and defaming Doctor Fernando.”

The ‘fox eye’ lift, also known as canthoplasty or canthopexy, has gained significant traction in recent times, particularly through social media content, as reported by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Souza expressed a desire for justice for his departed friend, stating to Quem: “He had many aspirations yet to fulfill, including reconnecting with his family and exploring opportunities abroad.”
