Halfords has revealed that all of its stores will be closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day this year. The decision aims to allow staff in the UK to have a well-deserved break and spend quality time with their families. While Halfords stores will be shut on Christmas Day as well, they will operate as usual on all other days throughout the festive season.
Henry Birch, the Chief Executive Officer at Halfords, expressed gratitude towards the dedicated efforts of the staff throughout the year. He emphasized the importance of acknowledging their hard work and providing them with the opportunity to relax and enjoy time with their loved ones. Birch highlighted that closing the stores on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day is a meaningful gesture to show appreciation and ensure that the teams return refreshed for the upcoming year.
In a similar move, Home Bargains has also decided to keep its stores closed on December 26 and January 1. The company expressed gratitude to its employees for their dedication and hard work, encouraging them to unwind and enjoy the Christmas break with their families.
Additionally, Aldi, the budget supermarket chain, traditionally keeps its doors closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. To accommodate customer needs before Christmas, Aldi will extend its operating hours. Rebecca Heley, the Communications Director at Aldi UK, emphasized the importance of allowing colleagues to relax and enjoy the festive season with their loved ones, stating that closing the stores on Boxing Day is a way to show appreciation for their efforts during the holiday season.
