A gym cleaner, Lee Drury, was caught spying on women while they were showering by hiding his phone in the gym’s roof space on June 19, 2023. The woman who discovered the phone reported it to the gym’s management in Tonbridge, Kent. Despite no images being found on Drury’s phone, a forensic analysis revealed that he had used a camera app while the woman was showering. Additionally, an illegal image of a child was found on his phone.
Further investigation led to the discovery of more indecent images on another phone belonging to Drury. He faced multiple sexual offense charges but denied any wrongdoing. Drury was granted bail by magistrates but was later arrested in August 2024 for engaging in explicit conversations and sending inappropriate content to a person he believed was a 14-year-old child.
Following a trial at Maidstone Crown Court, Drury, aged 35, was convicted of voyeurism and making indecent images of a child. He had previously pleaded guilty to online offenses related to attempting to communicate inappropriately with a child.
On September 4, Drury, from Wrotham, Kent, was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and received a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 15 years. Kent Police Investigator Natalie Armstrong commented on Drury’s actions, emphasizing his inability to comply with restrictions and his disregard for the safety and privacy of others, especially women and children. Drury’s behavior was deemed a serious violation, leading to his incarceration to protect the public from harm.
