“Family Seeks Justice in Mysterious Hot Tub Deaths”

The family of a woman who tragically passed away in a scalding bathtub with her boyfriend have expressed concerns regarding her mysterious death.

Ana Carolina Silva, a 41-year-old nail salon owner, and military officer Jeferson Luiz Sagaz, 37, were discovered deceased in a motel room in Sao Jose, Brazil, on August 11.

The couple had celebrated their daughter’s fourth birthday at a food park and later partied at a nightclub. After dropping off their child at Jeferson’s sister’s house, they checked into the Dallas Motel around midnight. They were last seen around 11:30 pm as per local reports.

Family members became alarmed when the couple failed to pick up their daughter the next day. Authorities subsequently found them dead in the motel room bathtub, with no visible injuries. The water temperature had risen to 50C, and a space heater was set to high, according to police reports.

A toxicology report revealed traces of cocaine and high levels of blood alcohol in both Jeferson and Ana. Investigators, after reviewing CCTV footage and the couple’s vehicle, concluded that they had lost consciousness in the scalding water.

Chief Medical Examiner Andressa Boer Fronza stated that the cause of death for both individuals was exogenous poisoning, leading to heatstroke, severe dehydration, thermal collapse, organ failure, and ultimately death.

The report indicated that the combination of substances, alcohol, and extreme heat elevated their risk. Sixteen forensic tests ruled out potential causes of death such as electric shock, drowning, carbon monoxide poisoning, or foul play.

Despite the police’s findings, Ana’s family suspects foul play and insists on justice. They denied reports of her involvement in drug use and raised concerns about possible forced ingestion or poisoning.

In a press release, the family emphasized their commitment to upholding Ana’s memory and dignity, advocating for a thorough, transparent, and impartial investigation to uncover the truth and dispel unwarranted speculation.

Chief Inspector Felipe Simao stated during a press briefing that the couple led active social lives but were not known to use drugs. He highlighted that the couple lacked a cocaine habit, and there was no history of violence.

The couple, Jefferson and Ana Carolina, had been in a relationship for nearly two decades and were described by friends as dedicated parents and sociable individuals. Following the tragic event, their daughter is now under the care of relatives.
