Elderly Woman Dies After Fall at Stockport Care Home

An elderly woman has passed away due to injuries sustained from a tragic incident involving a fall from a window at the care home where she resided. The 78-year-old woman fell from her window at a Stockport home at 7:30 am on Monday, September 29, and was subsequently taken to the hospital. Despite medical intervention, she succumbed to her injuries.

The woman was a resident at Berrycroft Manor in Romiley at the time of the accident. The manager of Berrycroft Manor has initiated an investigation into the incident, labeling it as a “tragic accident.” The Care Quality Commission (CQC), which oversees care homes, is actively involved in the investigation along with the local authorities.

Michael Blissett, the home manager at Berrycroft Manor, expressed condolences to the family and emphasized the commitment to ensuring safety within the facility. Greater Manchester Police confirmed their response to the incident, stating that the woman passed away at the hospital following the fall.

The care home had received a favorable rating from the CQC during its last inspection in September 2024. Following the tragedy, the CQC spokesperson extended sympathies to the family and emphasized the importance of investigating the circumstances to guarantee safe care for all residents. The CQC encourages individuals with concerns about health and social care services to report them for further evaluation and action.
