Charges of rape and attempted murder have been brought against a 10-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy after a heinous assault on a five-year-old child that left the victim severely injured, according to authorities.
The incident occurred when the victim’s mother dropped her off at a relative’s residence in Cleveland, Ohio, on September 13. The child managed to exit the house and was allegedly assaulted by a group of children outside.
Prosecutors in Cuyahoga County have announced that the two children are facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, rape, felonious assault, kidnapping, and strangulation. The victim’s mother expressed shock at the scene, describing her daughter as unrecognizable and stating, “I literally saw the worst thing ever! I saw my daughter unrecognizable.”
The mother continued, “I couldn’t wrap my head around it,” adding, “My daughter was not my daughter. Her hair was scalped from her head. She had bruises and blood all over her body. Her eyes were filled with blood. Her lips and mouth were filled with blood. Her nails had debris and dirt stuck in them.”
According to reports from KPLC, the victim’s mother shared that the attack has left her daughter physically, emotionally, and mentally scarred, with the child now undergoing therapy. The mother expressed her desire for her daughter to regain a sense of normalcy.
Regarding the case, the prosecutor’s office stated, “Given the sensitive nature of this case, we decline to release any additional details and decline to comment further.”
In a separate incident, a couple is accused of raping a six-year-old girl and holding her captive alongside her deceased sister after killing their mother.
Daniel Callihan, 37, admitted to fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Callie Brunett, 35, more than 50 times before abducting her elder daughter and her four-year-old sibling.
The girls were transported over 130 miles to Mississippi by Callihan, who, along with his partner Victoria Cox, 34, reportedly subjected the six-year-old to sexual exploitation. Callihan confessed to the crimes and pleaded guilty to federal charges.
Documents indicated that Callihan asphyxiated the younger girl by holding her close to his chest following criminal sexual acts with Cox. The older girl was rescued by authorities after being found in a pit alongside her deceased sibling, leading to Callihan’s conviction on federal and state charges.
Callihan received a life sentence for his crimes, while Cox faces state charges and is currently undergoing legal proceedings as an accessory to the offenses, including capital murder, kidnapping, and sexual battery.
