“British Family Finds Bliss in Cyprus Escape”

A British family tired of the demanding work culture in the UK has made a life-changing move to Cyprus. Sarah Moore, 48, and her husband James, 47, decided to relocate with their children Bea, nine, and Miles, five, from Marton, Middlesbrough, seeking a more fulfilling lifestyle. The couple felt overwhelmed by long work hours, high expenses including heating and council tax bills, and increasing crime rates in the UK.

Sarah, a former teacher, expressed concerns about the pressure and criticism faced by their daughter Bea in the British education system. James, an IT specialist with experience in Cyprus, suggested the move for a better work-life balance, lower crime rates, and reduced living costs. In November 2024, James secured a remote IT job in Protaras on a UK salary, leading to their relocation in April the following year.

Since moving, the family has found a sense of security, with their children thriving in an international school. They now reside in a villa with seafront views and a swimming pool, paying similar monthly rent to what they spent on a mortgage in the UK. James now works fewer hours but earns enough to sustain the family on a single income, providing them with more quality time together.

Sarah highlighted the contrast in lifestyle, emphasizing the reduced pressure on their children in the new school environment. She mentioned the positive impact on their daily routine, with the kids enjoying early school finishes and engaging in various activities like beach visits and leisurely walks with their parents. The family has adapted well to the move, feeling content and grateful for the improved quality of life they have found in Cyprus.

Their decision to stay in Cyprus is solidified by the positive experiences they have had and the enhanced family time they now enjoy. Sarah reflected on the ease of the transition and the happiness they have found in their new home. The family has no plans to return to the UK, as they embrace the fulfilling lifestyle and welcoming community they have found in Cyprus.
