“Blackpool Council Offers £300 Energy Assistance to Eligible Households”

Thousands of households may qualify for £300 in energy assistance this winter. The Blackpool Council is dispersing this aid through its Household Support Fund to eligible households. Each local authority administers its own version of the fund, offering various types of support, including energy assistance, supermarket vouchers, and cash grants.

Eligible households in Blackpool consisting of one or two individuals, including children, may receive £200 in energy assistance. Qualifying households with three or more individuals, including children, could be eligible for £300.

To access the support, households must demonstrate financial hardship and difficulties in paying their bills. Providing recent bank statements for all household members is necessary for the application process.

Applicants do not need to receive Universal Credit or other benefits to apply for the fund, but they can only receive one award within a 12-month period. The assistance is directly credited to the energy provider and will reflect as a credit on the bill or pre-payment meter. Applications can be submitted through the Blackpool Council website.

Residents outside Blackpool should inquire with their local council regarding support available through the Household Support Fund. For instance, the Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is distributing £120 worth of vouchers to eligible residents.

City of York Council is offering one-off £100 payments to households receiving council tax bill assistance. Nearly 5,000 York residents qualify for the payment, and the council has already dispatched letters with application instructions.

Portsmouth City Council is granting £150 to single-person households and £200 to couples or families meeting income criteria. Applicants must be receiving specific benefits and have household incomes below specified thresholds.

Households can apply for these assistance programs online through their respective council websites.
