Black Sheep, a coffee chain based in the UK, has introduced its festive Christmas menu, featuring a variety of bold flavors and indulgent winter treats. As part of an exclusive preview event, I had the opportunity to sample the new offerings.
Among the standout beverages, my top pick from the menu is the Mint White Chocolate Chip Matcha, particularly the refreshing iced version. Described by Black Sheep as a blend of fresh mint and creamy white chocolate with a festive twist on a classic matcha flavor, this drink is smooth, sweet, and delightfully cheeky.
Although I’m not usually a fan of matcha, I found this rendition to be exceptionally enjoyable. Its balanced sweetness complements the matcha’s bitterness, making it a unique and satisfying choice. The Mint White Chocolate Chip Matcha reminded me of a Grasshopper cocktail, known for its minty flavor and creamy texture.
Another highlight was the Gingerbread Latte, a quintessential Christmas drink that exudes warmth and nostalgia. Infused with aromatic spices and sweet gingerbread syrup, this velvety espresso concoction, topped with whipped cream, captures the essence of the holiday season perfectly.
In a surprising twist, Black Sheep also unveiled the Fuji Apple, Ginger & Caramel Red Bull Infusion, a seasonal beverage inspired by toffee apples. Combining juicy Fuji apple, fiery ginger, and sweet caramel with Red Bull, this energizing drink offers a unique and festive flavor profile, reminiscent of a toffee apple cider.
In addition to the delightful drinks, we sampled the Pigs in Blanket Ciabatta, featuring succulent sausages wrapped in bacon with a cranberry glaze, and the Brie & Cranberry Toastie, a blend of creamy brie and tangy cranberry on toasted sourdough. While these savory options were enjoyable, the real stars of the menu are undoubtedly the innovative and delicious beverages.
