After a car accident, police have provided an update on a mother and child who were ejected from their vehicle. Fortunately, the baby is expected to recover fully after being rescued from under the overturned car in a dramatic scene captured on a busy highway.
Authorities were alerted to the incident on Thursday morning, responding to reports of the mother and child being thrown from their car during the crash. Body camera footage released by the Fort Worth Police Department on social media shows an officer rushing to the overturned vehicle and initiating the search for the child, while a distressed woman can be heard crying out for her baby.
The officer, with the help of other drivers who had stopped at the scene, worked to lift the car to free the trapped child. Despite initial unresponsiveness, the baby showed signs of life after receiving immediate attention from the officers on site. Both the mother and child are anticipated to recover fully from the ordeal.
In a social media post, Police Chief Eddie Garcia praised the officers for their courageous actions and referred to the child as a “little angel.” The department expressed appreciation for the swift response of Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds, as well as the citizens who assisted in the rescue effort.
The police department emphasized the challenging situations officers encounter while carrying out their duties and acknowledged the importance of community support in such critical moments.
