A young girl, aged five, fell 50 feet from a Disney Cruise ship after being asked to pose for a photo near an open porthole, as reported by authorities. The incident occurred while the girl, accompanied by her parents, was on board the Disney Dream cruise ship. Contrary to false rumors, it was clarified that the girl fell into the sea after being prompted to pose next to the railing by her mother.
Following the fall, a mayday call was issued, and a rescue boat was dispatched promptly. Fortunately, the girl sustained no major injuries, while her father received medical attention for an undisclosed matter. Although initial criminal charges against the mother were suggested, Florida’s state attorney decided not to pursue prosecution, citing the incident did not amount to criminal culpable negligence.
State attorney Melissa Kelly stated on September 16 that while the mother’s actions could be considered negligent, they did not meet the criteria for criminal culpable negligence. The investigation involved questioning the parents, whose accounts aligned with security camera footage, leading to the closure of the case.
The mother allegedly informed the police that she had taken several photos of her daughter near the ship’s railings during the trip. Expressing concerns about the lack of window coverings, she attributed responsibility to Disney for the unfortunate event. The Mirror reached out to Disney Cruises for a statement on the matter.
