“Newborn Girl Abandoned in Cardboard Box Sparks Police Investigation”

An investigation has been initiated by the police following the discovery of a newborn baby girl who was abandoned in a cardboard box on the side of a road. The incident occurred at approximately 6:50 am on Wednesday, September 24, when a passerby found the infant, estimated to be only a few hours old. The baby, whose umbilical cord had been cut, was found moving inside the box, which was placed on a roadside wall in Tuguegarao City, Philippines.

The newborn was swiftly taken to the hospital, where doctors confirmed her good health. May Asuncion, a social worker, mentioned that the baby is currently stable but will be monitored in the hospital for up to five days for further observation.

Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the quick response from local citizens and authorities in rescuing the baby. He emphasized the importance of valuing every life and pledged to identify the person responsible for abandoning the child.

A police spokesperson echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the importance of community action in saving the baby’s life. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities actively seeking information to identify the baby’s parents or those accountable for the abandonment.

In a separate incident, a newborn baby was found abandoned in the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, India, with a stone in his mouth and lips glued shut to stifle cries. The baby, estimated to be between 15 and 20 days old, was immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention. Police suspect the use of glue and a stone was intended to silence the baby and are investigating nearby hospital records to track down potential leads.

Both cases highlight the importance of community vigilance and swift action in safeguarding vulnerable infants.
