Gary Anderson’s opinion differs from the rankings, as he doesn’t consider Luke Littler the top player globally despite his impressive performances since breaking onto the scene at the 2024 Darts World Championships.
Littler’s rise in the darts world has been remarkable, winning titles such as the UK Open, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, and the Premier League after reaching the final in his debut appearance.
Despite his achievements, Littler remains in second place behind Luke Humphries in the world rankings, with Humphries having earned more prize money over the past year. However, Littler is close behind and aims to potentially claim the top spot before this year’s world championships.
Anderson, when asked about the best player globally, pointed to Luke Humphries as the world No. 1. He also mentioned Michael van Gerwen as the top player in Europe outside of the UK.
Littler, while acknowledging his pursuit of the world number one spot, agrees with Anderson’s assessment and expresses determination to continue his progress. He believes in putting pressure on Humphries to secure the top ranking.
As Littler prepares for the upcoming world championship at Alexandra Palace starting on December 15, he remains focused on building momentum. The final qualifiers and draw for the tournament will be confirmed later this month.
