A woman in Eastern India was tragically attacked by a crocodile while bathing in the Kharasrota River. The distressing incident was captured on video as the reptile dragged the 57-year-old victim through the water, despite efforts by onlookers to intervene. Despite a swift response from local authorities and villagers, the rescue attempt was unsuccessful, and the woman, identified as Soudamini Mahala, remains missing.
According to eyewitnesses, the attack occurred on a Monday afternoon when the woman was suddenly pulled into the river. Police and fire department teams promptly launched a search operation, but the victim’s body has not been located as of Tuesday. Eyewitness Naba Kishore Mahala described the futile attempt to rescue the woman from the crocodile’s grasp.
Authorities are continuing to search the river and cautioning residents to be vigilant near crocodile-infested waters. A video capturing the distressing incident has circulated on social media, sparking concerns for public safety along the river.
This tragic event follows another fatal crocodile attack in India, where a mother-of-three was found dead on a riverbank after being attacked by a crocodile while fishing. The community’s efforts to save her were in vain as the reptile swiftly dragged her into the water. Officials emphasize the importance of avoiding crocodile habitats to prevent such tragedies.
