Following the sentencing decision of Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura has responded to the rapper being sentenced to four years in prison.
Immediately after Diddy learned his fate, Cassie’s lawyer, Doug Wigdor, issued a statement acknowledging the seriousness of the charges and expressing confidence that with the support of her loved ones, Cassie will continue to heal and be an inspiration to others.
Diddy, 55, faced charges of transportation for prostitution, sex trafficking, and racketeering conspiracy, ultimately being found guilty on two counts of prostitution. During the trial, Cassie, who had previously filed a civil lawsuit against him, cooperated with federal authorities in building the case. Although the matter was settled out of court with no admission of wrongdoing, Cassie’s attorneys raised concerns for her safety as the defense sought Diddy’s release on bail pending sentencing.
In a victim impact statement before the sentencing, Cassie urged the judge to impose a significant sentence on Diddy, emphasizing the ongoing impact of the abuse she endured and expressing fear of his potential danger to her and other victims.
Addressing the court prior to his sentencing, Diddy expressed remorse and apologized to Cassie for any harm caused, acknowledging his past actions and pleading for mercy from the court.
