A woman has been convicted of murdering a three-year-old boy in a tragic incident that occurred at a supermarket parking lot in North Olmstead, Ohio. The victim, Julian Wood, and his mother Margot Wood were viciously attacked by the assailant, Bionca Ellis, with a knife outside the Giant Eagle store.
Despite swift medical attention, Julian succumbed to his injuries, while his mother survived the brutal assault. Ellis, who stole knives from a nearby thrift store, pursued and attacked the mother and child as they were leaving the supermarket.
Ellis, a resident of Cleveland, faces sentencing after being found guilty of multiple charges, including aggravated murder and assault. She has been in custody on a substantial bond since her indictment last year.
Having a history of schizophrenia, Ellis pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Witness testimonies, including that of Travis Bush who confronted Ellis after the attack, shed light on the horrifying incident.
Following the verdict, Mrs. Wood and Jared Wood, the boy’s father, expressed gratitude for the community’s support. The Mayor of North Olmsted commended the quick response of law enforcement and expressed sympathy for the victims.
Giant Eagle issued a statement acknowledging the incident and cooperating with authorities in their investigation. Local residents, like Abby Weaver, expressed shock and sadness over the tragic event that unfolded in their close-knit community.
