In a heartbreaking discovery, a mother let out a piercing scream upon entering her daughter’s room to find the lifeless body of 20-year-old Júlia de Paula Barbosa with a broken neck. Júlia was found early on October 5 with extensive bruising and fractures, including a broken hand, foot, and neck. Her mother, Jozi Maria de Paula, was devastated to find her daughter in such a state, suspecting she had been physically assaulted and strangled. Jozi described the scene to local media, recounting the shock of seeing Júlia covered in bruises, with a broken hand and foot, lying motionless in bed.
Following the tragic incident at their home in Cariacica, Brazil, Júlia’s boyfriend, Aleff Wingler, 25, was apprehended in Serra as he attempted to flee to São Mateus. Just a day prior, the couple had attended a party in Viana where they were driven home by Júlia’s father. Reports indicate that the couple had been in a relationship for two years. Júlia, a promising architecture student, is mourned by her sister and friends who remember her as a dedicated and ambitious young woman with a bright future ahead.
The authorities are treating the case as femicide, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding Júlia’s untimely death are ongoing.
