Janice Combs, a familiar face in courtrooms, showed her support for her son, Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, during his sentencing hearing. She opted for a white suit and styled her blonde hair straight, complemented by oversized black sunglasses. Janice was joined by other Diddy family members, including his children.
In a letter to the judge, Janice acknowledged her son’s past “terrible mistakes,” stating that he recognizes them. She mentioned the challenges Combs faced from a young age, such as losing his father at 2 and his uncle at 9.
P. Diddy was found guilty of two counts related to transportation for prostitution but was cleared of more serious charges like sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. On Oct. 3, he returned to the Daniel Patrick Moynihan Courthouse for sentencing by Judge Arun Subramanian.
Before the sentencing, Diddy’s legal team sought to overturn the convictions, proposing a new trial focused on the two counts. Despite their arguments about evidence admissibility post not guilty verdicts, the judge denied the request.
His defense also submitted letters from family, friends, and fellow inmates. Janice was implicated in Diddy’s legal troubles, including allegations of sexual misconduct in civil suits, which also dragged her into the legal fray. However, the lawsuit involving her was eventually dropped.
Janice was previously sued by Deon Best, a former associate of Diddy’s, who claimed she was involved in a plot to deprive him of intellectual property rights and royalties. Both Janice and Diddy refuted the accusations, leading to the dismissal of Best’s lawsuit by a California judge due to vague allegations and statute of limitations.
The judge ruled in favor of the defendants, stating that the plaintiff would receive nothing and the defendants would be reimbursed for their legal expenses.
